HAIR CARE GUIDE

CLEANSING

We suggest washing your hair 1 to 2 times a week with the recommended shampoo, conditioner, and mask. Please don’t wash your hair everyday, as it will shorten the life of your extension hair.

WASHING

Before washing, you have to brush all of the tangles out. If you have multiple rows, section out each row so that you’re able to clean between them. Gently wash as normal and be sure to avoid rubbing the ends of your hair together.

After washing, use Davines Oi All In One Milk or the Goldie Locks leave-in conditioner prior to drying and the Oi Oil or Goldie Locks serum once dried to finish!  This will allow you to wash daily if you feel the need to!

CONDITIONING

Only apply conditioner from mid shaft to the end of your hair. Avoid conditioner near the top of your hair to avoid build up.

You can use a brush to gently brush the conditioner through before rinsing it out (we recommend an Ibiza airwave brush that can be purchased at the salon). Start at the bottom and work your way to the mid shaft. This will help to avoid tangles and allow all of the product to be dispersed evenly throughout your hair.

DRYING

Once out of the shower, gently squeeze the excess water out of your hair, do not rub! Use your leave-in conditioner spray and brush to help remove any remaining tangles.

Before drying make sure each row is completely brushed out from the top of the weft, to the bottom. We do not recommend letting your extensions air dry. If you wish to air dry make sure the top of the weft (where it is sewn in) is completely dry to prevent matting and weft damage.
NEVER GO TO BED WITH DAMP OR WET HAIR!

Extension hair is naturally dry and need to be extra moisturized

PRODUCTS

Shampoo, conditioner and other hair products need to be extension friendly. They should be paraben and sulfate free. You should also use a serum/oil/leave in conditioner from mid shaft down daily for moisture. If you have products at home that you would like to use, please check with your stylist they are extension friendly.

If you are interested in trying something new, we have researched and tested a huge variety of products to find the products we know will maintain the integrity and ensure the longevity of your extensions. At your install appointment we customize our recommendations based on your natural hair from the lines we recommend and carry.

SLEEPING

We recommend braiding your hair or putting it in a low bun for sleeping. Never sleep on your extensions while they’re wet, it will damage your natural hair and can cause matting and mold.

It’s also best to sleep on a silk pillowcase which is much more gentle on your hair and skin than a traditional cotton pillowcase. Cotton pillowcases cause frizz and split ends over time. We carry a variety of silk pillowcases in salon and you can pick them up after your install.

STYLING AND TOOLS

You can straighten and curl your hair like you normally would! When using hot tools, don’t forget to apply a heat protectant before you use heat.

 SWIMMING

You can swim with extensions but if you don’t take these few steps prior to swimming, it can result in damage and matting of your hair and the extension hair.

-       Wet your hair before getting into the water.

-       After wetting, apply a leave in conditioner or hair mask

-       Braid your hair and keep braided while you are in the water

-       Brush out & wash your hair immediately after swimming.

 SUNscrEEN

Please note that most brands of sunscreen contain ingredients that will turn your extensions brassy. Stay away from any sunscreen that includes "avobenzone" as an ingredient.
We have extension and color friendly sunscreen available for sale in the salon.
